Casa Tres front view
Larry Francell's model of Casa Tres in HO scale. The turquoise, so iconic to southwestern adobes, is New York Central Jade Green by RR Colors, The plants he got from Walthers: Scenic Master Botanicals - Hollyhocks & Sage, both of which are indigenous to here and northern New Mexico. The planters for the sage are square wood beads drilled out to thin the walls to scale. Larry's wife is an expert in adobes.
Caballo Blanco Trading Company
Caballo Blanco Trading Company & Julie's Cantina & Dance Hall

Built by Bud Pickens for our customer, Bud added a number of details beyond the basic kit. He added chile ristras (strings of drying chile peppers) typical of the southwest. He put Indian blankets on the patio in front of the saloon doors, wood vertical blocks in the windows, and a chimney on the roof. He added a thatched roof to the annex next to the trading company building. Our customer plans to include recorded sound of Marty Robbins singing "Rosa's Cantina" to go with the cantina.

The cantina & trading company are free lance designs of ours, and available in HO, S or O scales. Click on the adobe building kits page for details & prices.

Having previously owned a hobby shop, Bud is available to build finished models, contact us to get together with Bud.

6 Stall S Wolf Creek Roundhouse

6 Stall 70’ Wolf Creek Roundhouse-S Scale-Kit Bashed

Luther "Sarge" Stephens of Alexandrian Virginia-Built by Tom O'Connor of Lebanon Pennsylvania

Tom built this version of our Wolf Creek Roundhouse for Sarge in S scale. Tom modified the profile of the side walls and the clerestory, instead installing windows across the front and ventilating smokestacks near the rear. Tom ran the exterior siding horizontally rather than vertically. He also added length to stalls 5 & 6, and opened the rear wall of stall 6 to run the track out the back. Sarge keeps an articulated locomotive in stall 6 necessitating the extra length.

The model is exceptionally well done, and shows what can be done with the kit to accommodate a variety of motive power.

Joe Hedl's O Scale Chapel
Joe Hedl, Marshall, Texas

Joe Hedl chose to locate the Chapel of Our Lady of Talpa on a hillside. He added extra detail like the triple bells in wooden frame, the large cross on the hillside, the tombstones, & the grim reaper on the roof.

The Chapel of Our Lady of Talpa kit comes in HO, S & O scales, details on our Adobe Structures page.

Larry Francell: Fort Davis, Texas

Below are pictured Larry Francell's HO scale models built from our St. Francis of Assisi Church & Julie's Cantina & Dance Hall.

The Pink Adobe was a landmark restaurant in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Larry's wife is an expert on adobe. Especially good is the colorful tile floor on the patio!

Fort Davis elevation is over 5000'. We did not know Texas had any elevations this high.

The Franciscan Friars complement the church perfectly, and led to our decision to offer these Preiser figures as part of our line.

Wolf Creek Roundhouse & Machine Shop
built in Garden scale:

Rich Johnson of San Jose, California, is just finishing the first Wolf Creek Roundhouse and Machine Shop in G scale. Rich teaches wood lathe and sells his artistic wood turnings on his web site, Latheart.com. His mastery of woodworking shows in this finely crafted model.

Bud in Ohio built this O scale 70' 2-Stall Wolf Creek Roundhouse & Machine Shop fro an Andersen Model Kits kit for a friend of his. Bud builds kits as a service for a fee, and asked us to pass this information along.  Here are the finished models.
Here is a progress photo. Certainly attests to the quality of Mt. Albert Scale Lumber, as well as Bud's craftsmanship!
The background scenery is 12" equals 1' scale...
Bud did a great job getting a light rust look to the Builder's In Scale Ribbed Metal Roofing & Corrugated Metal Siding.
