Our Layout

Our line of rolling stock is complete and unsurpassed in detail. Grandt line brake gear  & queen posts, and Kadee Trucks & couplers are included in every kit (Also available less trucks). Real wood construction provides exceptional detail, and, like every Andersen Model Kit, finishing and weathering suggestions provide the means for a model that is difficult to tell from the real thing, for instance, in the photos below.

Build 36' or shorter. Add our flatcar as it is to your rolling stock, or modify it with high ends, gondola sides, or a myriad of other modifications for specific uses. Our 1/8" square brass stock weighting hides nicely between the stringers and above the trucks, achieving optimal operating weight without interaction with magnetic decouplers. Letter it for the prototype railroad of your choice, or your private line. Shown weathered with Weather-It finish and Bragdon weathering powders.

HO or HOn3 Scale $25

Our boxcar kits feature the American Foundry cars found on many narrow gauge railroads. Our model is based on the Carson & Colorado #7 prototype which is in Laws, California, and in good condition. Originally sold to the Florence & Cripple Creek Railroad; when the F&CC folded, these cars were sold to the  Nevada County Narrow Gauge Railroad, Southern Pacific narrow gauge and others.

We also offer a standard gauge version. While not prototype, it does add a nice looking car to those running HO standard gauge. It is scaled up in size to maintain proportion.

HOn3 Scale $30

HO Scale $30

The prototype for our boxcar kit as we photographed it in Laws Railroad Museum near Bishop California in June 2008. We believe, based on photos found on line, that this is Carson & Colorado #7. Its in pretty good shape!

We built our first one and lettered it C&C #7, and the second one F&CC #647 as shown in the photo further above. We weathered the C&C #7 model in an attempt to replicate the condition of the prototype. We first treated the wood with Weather-It, then painted with rubber cement, then Floquil Oxide Red. We then scraped off much of the paint. The rubber cement produces an effect of peeling paint.

As with all our rolling stock kits, we weighted the boxcars with 1/8" square brass bar glued above the trucks to bring the finished weight to 2 ounces.

The C&C #7 version is illustrated below.
